Q. How Long Are Your Vouchers Valid For?
A. All flight vouchers issued by Airship & Balloon Company Ltd are valid for 12 months from the date of your purchase.
Q. What Times Do You Fly?
A. Hot air balloons fly in the first hours after sunrise, and the last few hours before sunset. This is because during the day, as the temperature increases, warm air currents called thermals are created, and it is unsafe for balloons to fly when there is thermic activity due to the increased windspeed associated with them. Airship & Balloon Company fly 7 days a week between March and November.
Q. Can I Pick A Specific Time And Date To Fly?
A. Of course you can, unlike some hot air balloon operators, our flight vouchers do not have conditions limiting when you can take you flight. As hot air balloon flights are weather dependant though, we cannot guarantee that you will be flown on your chosen date.
Q. Can I Bring Family & Friends?
A. Yes absolutely. We encourage people to spectate the balloon inflation and launch - a truly astonishing sight. We would ask though, that all on-lookers follow any instructions given to them by either the pilot or the balloon ground crew and never enter the landing field.
Q. What Happens Once We've Landed, How Do We Get Home?
A. While the balloon is flying, the ground crew follow along in the retrieve vehicle (a 4x4 and trailer). Once the balloon has landed and been packaged away, we give all the passengers a lift back to the launch site. If any family and friends attend the inflation and launch of the balloon, we would ask that they do not follow the balloon in flight as this creates a large train of vehicles on the roads.
Q. Is There An Age Restriction?
A. I'm afraid we cannot fly people under 7 years old and we cannot fly people under 16 years old without an accompanying adult.
Q. How Long Is The Flight?
A. Flights last for around an hour and the whole experience, from arriving at the launch site, to returning to it afterwards, takes between three to four hours.
